A
s the Founder of Ewang’an Foundation and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, I am a proud member of the Maasai community and a passionate advocate for education, youth empowerment and the rights of women and girls.
My passion for advocacy is shaped by my lived experiences growing up in a community rich in culture and tradition. From an early age, I witnessed first-hand the deeply rooted challenges affecting my community that continue to limit opportunities particularly for girls and young people including limited access to education, early and forced marriages, and harmful practices that exclude them from limit participation in decision-making and shaping the future of their communities.
These experiences inspired me to pursue a legal career and ultimately establish Ewang’an Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing equal access to quality education for marginalized boys and girls, promoting youth and women’s empowerment and providing legal aid to vulnerable individuals.
Through the Foundation, I endeavour to break systemic barriers that hinder progress, advocate for gender equality, and create platforms where young people can lead change. I believe that every child regardless of gender, ethnicity or socio-economic status deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.
My vision is to intensify sustainable change and empower communities from within by equipping young people and women with knowledge, skills and confidence. I am therefore committed to ensuring that the next generation of Maasai girls and youth become educated, confident and informed leaders and advocates for their rights, and, as a result, shape a more just and equitable future and create a lasting transformative change in their communities and in our society at large.
